In the heart of Pondaurat, a charming village near Bordeaux, Benoît and Wouter open the doors to their house and reveal the unique atmosphere of a place full of history ...

After years of restoration, Benoît , artist and interior decorator, has recreated in each room an "old family home" atmosphere where time seems to have stood still ...

During your stay you can freely enjoy the lounge with Italian frescoes , the dining room's chinese decor,  the garden that borders the Bassanne stream, the terrace and its magnificent hundred year old magnolia overlooking the pond .... but do not hesitate to ask Benoît who , if time permits,  may show you other secret places of the house ...

Some History...

Built on the ramparts of the village in the thirteenth century for William of Hastentot , knight of king Henry III Plantagenet, for overseeing the installation of a Commandery of the Order of Antonine Friars. The " Maison aux Contreforts" ( House of the Foothills - French Heritage) has retained from this period its impressive buttresses and a remnant of a watchtower.

Used as ' hospitalet ' by the religious order until the eighteenth century it was acquired by the Order of Malta in 1775.

Sold as " national property " during the French revolution , it underwent major changes in the nineteenth century and remained in the same family until the mid-twentieth century.

Between 1975 and 1990 the writer Roger Boussinot ( author who amongst his works wrote  ' Marie -Jeanne of Bernis ' and ' Children in the trees ') made it his residence.

Then uninhabited until 2004 , it is revived today with a new soul ...
